Senior Vice President, Client Development
 

Bruce Mead is Senior Vice President of Client Development and is responsible for National Accounts growth, with an emphasis on new business. He is a 19-year veteran of the industry having most recently served as Vice President, National and Government Accounts at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. While there, he was responsible for new business and existing accounts.

Bruce first joined UnitedHealth Group (UHG) sales and account management in 1990 in St. Louis, MO, through UHG legacy company MetLife. In 1997, he became a Sales Vice President with the UnitedHealthcare Strategic Solutions group and relocated to Dallas. . In that capacity, he was responsible for new business development in a seven state area, focused on matching UnitedHealth Group’s solutions to the unique needs of large, complex, multi-location groups. Through his efforts, UnitedHealthcare was awarded more than 30 new customer relationships.

Bruce has served on the Meridian Council, representing sales and account management leadership and responsible for providing insight and feedback regarding critical strategic initiatives to the senior management teams of UnitedHealthcare and UnitedHealth Group.

In 2006, Bruce accepted a senior leadership position with BCBS of Texas National and Government Accounts, where he managed a staff of 70 sales and account managers with a book of business that included more than 100 customers representing 2.2 million members.

Bruce rejoined UnitedHealthcare in June, 2008 to lead National Accounts Client Development growth initiatives and to further develop business relationships with the company’s consultant partners.

Bruce graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1990. He received his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1995. He is currently active in a number of organizations, including the Southwest Benefit Association and the American Heart Association.
